Match report
Olly Jackson led Sawbridgeworth's lower-order resistance as Joe Holland's side denied Stevenage an outright win at Town Fields on Saturday.

Jackson, who joined from Radlett at the start of the season, joined Rob Sanders
with Sawbo in deep trouble at 102-5 with 25 overs remaining.

The two 18-year-olds defied the Stevenage attack for almost an hour as they added 43 for the sixth wicket, but more importantly, used up 122 balls.

Jackson played a mature innings and while Sanders only managed nine runs, his contribution was not to be underestimated after he took 42 deliveries to get off the mark.

Sanders eventually to the occasional bowling of Naseer Ahmed and Ashman also fell cheaply but Jackson still had his eye on a maiden first team league 50.

With two balls to go, Sawbo were still seven wickets down and had saved the game but Jackson departed to a one-handed return catch by Joslin. He deserved a fifty, but his 78 ball innings was vital to ensure an honourable draw for Sawbridgeworth.

The home side's other main contributor had been Wilson, who struck nine boundaries in his 63-ball innings of 43, before unluckily playing on to Azhar Ali, whose remarkable figures of 18-14-14-5 spoke for themselves.

Fernando and Holland scored 21 and 14 respectively but they fell in successive overs before Jackson and Sanders came to the rescue to ensure Sawbo took 10 points from the game.

Earlier, Sawbridgeworth's bowlers fought back magnificently to take the last nine Stevenage wickets for 90 runs after the visitors had racked up 160-1 after 32 overs.

Chris Howard took three wickets in 14 balls to record his best figures at this level (3-38) as did Joe Rudkin, whose victims included Stevenage skipper Gary Brown who fell three short of a century.

Having reached 226-8 at the end of the 49th over, the visitors crawled their way to a fourth batting point which they took a further nine overs to achieve, which took a significant time out of the game.

Overall this was an encouraging display by the home side, who ended a run of three straight defeats against Stevenage. They begin the second half of the campaign away at Letchworth on Saturday and will welcome back Ryan Cunningham following his two-match suspension.
