Match report
Our winning run was ended by the weather, although we had our chances to sneak a win in a shortened game.
After losing the toss we were surprisingly asked to bat. We got off to a great start with Runcie in particular scoring freely, so when the rain first came down we were 102 for 1 after 18 overs. After a lenghty break and Tea being taken, we managed to get back on despite the fact that the covers had leaked badly at one end. But as both sides wanted to try and get a game in we got going again. Runcie carried on where he had been left off, supported by Fozzie, and got us to our target 180 in the 30th over. Thanks to a no ball on the last ball of the over, Runcie was given the chance to score a 100 which he did hitting the last ball for 4.
In reply we took a wicket early thanks to a good catch by Simon. But they then batted solidly upto the 15th over, although not scoring much. Then Bugsy followed up his first 3 maidens with a double wicket maiden. At 20 overs they were 4 down with 50 on the board, but then they had another partnership which saved the game for them. Disappointingly we dropped both of them and that proved costly. We finally broke the deadlock with only 5 overs to go, we managed to get out a further 4 wickets before the end but we had left it too late. So we did well to get a game in, but couldn't quite seal the win against the bottom side.
