Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club 3rd XI v Knebworth Park 4th XI on Sat 13 Aug 2011 at 1:00
Match was Drawn

Match report On a pitch that had some rain on it in the morning, i won the toss and decided to bowl first.

We opened the bowling with James Gostling who bowled well but without much rhythm due to the umpire telling him he was running down the wicket, however, he had two spells finishing with figures of 9 overs 2 for 36. Matt Gostling opened from the other end and bowled well swinging the ball late away from the right handers, he finished with figures of 6 overs 0 for 19.

Dewey and I came on and on a pitch that suited our slowness, we managed to pin the oppo's run rate back dewey finished with figures of 11 overs 0 for 28 and I 13 overs 2 for 19. Rees and Ben bowled a few overs each at the end with Rees bowling some serious wheels, Ben managed to pick up 2 wickets at the end, but on a pitch that didn't give him much assistance.
Knebworth ended on 185 for 7 off 53 overs.

Bren and Rees opened the batting for us and gave us a great start pushing the score on to 60 without loss from 16 overs, a good base to push on from. Unfortunately Rees got a peach of a ball that bowled him when he was on 20, Bowles went cheaply for 3 and then Bren got a out to a ball that looked over shoulder height and should have been given as a no ball, so we went 60 for 0 to 67 for 3.

Tom and Rich came together and pushed the score on before Rich was out for 13, they had pushed the score from 67 to 95. Ross joined Tom and the two young boys did a magnificent job running quickly between the wickets and hitting good boundaries the score went from 95 to 154 in 10 overs. Tom was very unfortunate to get out , he hit a great straight drive only to be caught diving full length forward, half a foot off the floor. Tom got a superb 47, which got us back in the game.

James joined Ross at the crease with us needing 31 from 5 overs, the two scampered quick singles, and James hit some good 4's, We approached the last over needing 7 from it, Ross hit a 2 from the first ball, then got out second ball for a very good 39. I went in and walked back after one ball, leaving Matt to try and get the strike to James, which he did giving him one of the next ball, James then hit a two leaving us needing 3 from the last ball to win two for a draw, last ball came off his pads, and with the boys scampering for two James was run out by a half yard from a direct hit from some 35 yards from the stumps.

Great game of cricket, which with our batting line up we should have won.

The downside to the day was again not many points as i decided to insert the opposition.
