Hemel Hempstead 6th XI v Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club Sawbo PANTHERS on Sat 28 May 2011 at 1:00
Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club Won 8 wickets

Match report Well what a difference a week makes. With bowling options coming out of his ears and a relatively strong batting line up it was a far different fifth XI that took to the field yesterday at Hemel Hempstead. Having won the toss Freeman had little hesitation in asking the opposition to bat first. Although early wickets were not firthcoming good tight bowling by Boxall (1-19) and Noonan (1-22) saw the opposition reach 29 without loss by the end of the 12th over. Boxall then removed the one of the openers to a great diving catch by Vijay in his last over of his spell and with Noonan being economical at one end it was time to introduce Matt Billings into the attack. 13 overs later Matt had captured his first 5 wicket haul and his final figures of 5-56 would have been a lot better if 18 runs had not come of his last two overs after Hemel's no 11 decided attack was the only form of defence. For such a young person Matt has an unflappable mentality and lets nothing faze him, certainly one for the future. Henry Morter struggled to find his line length in his short spell, put off by the camber on the pitch, before James Bruton (2-24) produced his best spell of the year and the opposition were all out for 138 from 38.5 overs. Ground fielding and catching backed up the bowlers as they have all year and it is certainly a pleasure to captain this side in the field.
Although the target was not a taxing one, a good start was necessary and this was provided by Freeman (59) and Heslop (58 not out) who put on 110 for the first wicket before Freeman was caught off Hemel's COUNTY lady leg spinner. Not content with one wicket Sarah then pulled off a magnificent caught and bowled to dismiss Inch for a duck before Morter helped Heslop see Sawbo home with some 23 overs to spare.
Overall a great prformance with Sawbridgeworth being in complete control throughout. The attitude of all the team is superb and although there are certain people, Adam Clarke for one, who is not getting much of a game at the moment due to his batting position of 5 his time will come and I have no doubt that he will be ready when that comes. Second in the league and as Yazz says the only way is up. A break next week for the 5's and it is important that we all keep focused and remember how well we have played in the first 4 games of the season.
