Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club 1st XI Sunday v Islands on Sun 19 Jun 2011 at 2:00
Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club Won 204 runs

Match report Joe Rudkin scored the fifth highest individual score in SCC history as he helped his side to a 204-run win over Islands on Sunday.

He scored a career-best 173 from just 91 balls, hitting 13 fours and an incredible 15 sixes as Sawbridgeworth scored their highest ever 40-over total.

His opening partnership with Chellew yielded 116 runs from just 12.4 overs (76 balls) after the latter had got the innings off and running by striking the third ball of the day for six.

Skippering the side in only his second appearance for his new club, the Australian scored 67 from just 43 balls (10 fours & three sixes) before edging behind to the 'keeper.

Charlie Mann came and went cheaply which saw Charlie Rudkin join his brother for their first ever partnership for Sawbo, which turned out to be a more than memorable 58 minutes of batting.

The duo added 167 runs for the fourth wicket in just 14.2 overs in a stand that was dominated by Joe, who scored 123 to his brother's 36. Joe reached his century from 72 deliveries before embarking on some of the most remarkable hitting ever witnessed at Town Fields.

His final 61 runs were scored off just 13 deliveries (666 666061 666W) with some truly majestic strokeplay as he took the bowling apart. His younger brother was still scoring at around a run a ball and was eventually adjudged lbw in the penultimate over (59 balls, seven fours and one six).

The visitors' bowling figures told their own story but Syed chipped in with the best strike-rate of the day, hitting a cheeky 41* off 19 balls with four fours and two sixes. Overall, Sawbo hit a total of 36 fours and 21 sixes in their innings as the scorer struggled to keep up although his sheet added up first time!!

In reply, the visitors were dismissed in 34.4 overs with Reg Clarke (32 off 26 balls) and skipper Leroy Thomas (42 off 35) providing the main entertainment.

James Gostling was the pick of the home attack, claiming a well-deserved 4-35. Edwards chipped in with three wickets and Owen Guest returned to take two wickets in two balls, but had a big lbw appeal turned down which would have finished off the innings.

Reynolds took the first wicket to fall after Clarke and Baldeo had put on 42 for the first wicket in eight overs.
