Match report The first game of the season saw the 3s at home to Langleybury on a typically windy day at Leventhorpe. Langleybury won the toss and surprisingly chose to bowl on a really flat wicket indicating they didn't have much and they were here for a draw.

Ted and Bren opened up with both safely getting us through the opening spells before Ted was out edging to slip off the bowling of Lennon for 10. Bren however was looking really good at the other end and showing how good the surface was with some particularly good shots down the ground. He was supported by Bowls who after the slow start showed his class with some good shots and as always played the spin very well. He and Bren put on 86 for the 2nd wicket with Bren finally being dismissed for 78 by a rank log hop that went under ground from Payne (in name and nature). Bowls was joined by Mash and in his debut league game for the club smashed 49 off 36 balls with 7 4s and 2 6s as he was particularly unforgiving to any bad balls. Bowls made a good 81 as both he and Mash fell after putting on 84 for the 3rd wicket and Tom Waring and Rich Harnack finished off the innings to take the score up to 238-4 from our 53 overs.

After tea we opened with Nick Dale and another debutant Tom Livermore. It didn't take Tom to get off the mark for Sawbo taking a simple caught and bowled chance to get rid of Plunket Senior. He then got Carter and then Horn caught mid-on and mid-off to put us in control with the score at 53-3 off 18. Glenn replaced Nick from the other end and had Channer dropped first ball. Costello at the other end was also making the most of his luck after being dropped by Waring at point. The pair put on 72 for the 3rd wicket before Costello edged behind to Reynolds as he went for a well made 75. Channer also edged behind to Reynolds in the very next over but decided that he was going to not walk and he was given not out of the fact that the noise didn't quite travel back to Langleybury so of course Reynolds made his views on the matter know. Glenn returned for second spell and was quickly amongst the wickets this time getting Plunket, Channer, Lennon and Payne in quick succession to leave us needing just 2 wickets for victory. Tom Livermore left us needing one after bowling the third member of the Plunket family. However, Kelly and McFarlane managed to block out the remaining overs to allow Langleybury to leave with the draw they came for.

19 points for us and just 4 for them so definitely a winning draw but disappointed not to get the deserved 30. A decent start, credit to the batters for putting such a commanding score of the board first up. Our bowling was okay but we will have to do improve as a unit in order to take 10 wickets in the future but that is something are very capable of doing with the players we have.
