Bishop's Stortford 4th XI v Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 06 May 2017 at 1:30
Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club Lost by 64 runs

Match report The third eleven started their season with a disappointing derby defeat at the hands of local rivals BS IV's at Cricketfield Lane. We managed to start the game with eleven men, an achievement in itself, as BS elected to bat on a bone dry flat belter of a wicket.
Dongworth made an early breakthrough removing the young Stortford opener,Foster, with a fantastic one handed diving catch by Chisnall at first slip. The second wicket pair rebuilt slowly before the impressive Paktsun trapped Williams LBW, with one that straightened and kept low.
Bassingthwaite dug in and made an impressive patient well crafted 60, with other players around him chipping in with double figure scores, in addition to a quick fire 38 from Vasey, allowing them to post an impressive 232 for 9.
Paktsun was the pick of the attack with 2 for 27 from 10 overs, with all the other bowlers going at 5 an over taking two wickets apiece with Youngs picking up one.

In reply, Levey and Harnack got off to a fantastic start, hammering 65 from 9 overs, flaying the erratic opening attack to the boundary, before Harnack chased a wide one, nicking off to first slip.
With the dashing blade of Paktsun, who was sporting adult pads for the first time, promoted to inject further impetus, we raced to 95 off 18 overs.
Unfortunately, Paktsun was clumsily run out, followed by Bowler who managed to spoon one back to the bowler after being hit on the foot by a yorker. In fading light and a very slow over rate, the innings petered out, with the bowling seeming to improve as the innings went on. Only the spirited Sydes offered any resistance, with an entertaining and breezy 25.
Unfortunately, with the relative lightness of batting resources in the club at present, Messrs Bowler and Chisnall really needed to post a score, and Harnack fell when he looked well set and in good nick, with Levey anchoring the innings.
Special mention to colt debutant Tom Hamilton who ably assisted in the field, and a warm welcome back to the Club for Paul Sydes, who entertained us with his humour and swashbuckling innings.
So a disappointing defeat, but nevertheless looking forward to next week, when we entertain Takeley 2's at the tundra of Leventhorpe.
