Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club 2nd XI squad

2nd XI

Captain : Alex Syed

2XI Captain

Vice Captain : Nicholas Dale

Craig Chisnall
Craig joined the club in 2007 and made a good impression, scoring a hundred in the fours and some solid Sunday runs. A sports journalist by trade, Craig is a good man whose character is only tainted by the fact that he is northern. Bowls lollipops in the nets. Experienced a brief spell in the 2nd XI in 2009.
James Gostling
Goz the younger played several senior games in 2008 and is reminiscent of his Dad in many ways - line and length bowling and big for his age. Bowled many overs to his Dad in the nets during the course of the season!
Henry Harnack
Henry is a lad who has a bright future in a Sawbridgeworth shirt. Following in his dad's footsteps as a top order batter, he is also a more than capable wicket-keeper. He made his senior debut in 2012 and also helped his age group reach the semi-final of the Under 13 cup. His creditable performances were recognised when he was named Colt of the Year for 2012. Henry is without a doubt a future 1st teamer.
Paul James
Paul "Two Darts" James is a old-fashioned swing bowler and when he gets right can be very difficult to face. It was these banana-balls which helped Paul win 2nd XI player of the year in 2005 and 2006. Reasonably quiet off the field, just goes about his business and is always around for a drink and chat. He won the 2010 Sawbridgeworth CC Premier Darts League, beating Danny "The Heir" Wilson 5-0 in the final.
William Jones
Joined the club from Ware at the start of the 2008 season.  Played two seasons for the 1st Team as a batsmen and occasional medium-pacer, before departing for Hong Kong.
Returned in July 2014 after nearly five years away, having changed to bowling leg-spin due to advancing years.
Has now taken up the mantle of 2nd Team skipper to nurture the development of those less than half his age.
Can always be relied upon to join in when there is a curry on offer.
Louis Kirby
Great exciting new Colt Playing his First Season in Open Cricket, watch this space!!
Ted Levey
The veteran! Ted holds the all time appearance and run scoring & catching records for the club having played since 1963. Held down the 2nd XI opening spot last season and still one of the better fielders despite age. Quiet & unassuming he is never shy of giving his opinion, Ted's experience in the side is invaluable.
