Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club 3rd XI squad

3rd XI

Captain : Phil Hyam

A batsman who never scores any runs, but managed to appear in the league handbook for bowling one year.

Vice Captain : David Jones

James Bovaird
A consistent performer for years, Jim has an uncanny knack for bowling line and length. A former Treasurer, he is 2nd XI captain for 2012.
Saurabh Chandratre

Joined the club at the end of season (2019) and made debut for 3rd XI taking 3 catches in slip. Then went onto play for Midweek XI and 1st Sunday XI..

Batting: RH Middle Order Batsman

Bowling: RA Medium Pace Swing / Spin

Fielding: Slip, Mid-wicket

Craig Chisnall
Craig joined the club in 2007 and made a good impression, scoring a hundred in the fours and some solid Sunday runs. A sports journalist by trade, Craig is a good man whose character is only tainted by the fact that he is northern. Bowls lollipops in the nets. Experienced a brief spell in the 2nd XI in 2009.
Andrew Dongworth

Joined the club in 2015 after many years at Stansted Hall & Elsenham and previously with Elsenham and Fives & Heronians. Also played a winter in Melbourne in 2006/7 for Kew CC.

A medium pace swing bowler and former 3rd team skipper (2018 - 2019).

James Gostling
Goz the younger played several senior games in 2008 and is reminiscent of his Dad in many ways - line and length bowling and big for his age. Bowled many overs to his Dad in the nets during the course of the season!
Vijay Krishnarayan
Vijay was recruited by Carl into the 5th team for its inaugural 2006 season, but Vijay ended up playing some 4th team games as well. He keeps wicket and plays a straight bat. Captained 6th team in 2008 and 2009.
Ted Levey
The veteran! Ted holds the all time appearance and run scoring & catching records for the club having played since 1963. Held down the 2nd XI opening spot last season and still one of the better fielders despite age. Quiet & unassuming he is never shy of giving his opinion, Ted's experience in the side is invaluable.
Romesh Paktsun

I joined Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club in 2014. I am keen to have a good game of cricket any day. Nothing to do with being brought up in Sri Lanka (where they eat, breath and sleep cricket).

Not sure what I bowl, but been told that I turn the ball some times. I must be a spinner then? I am a busy body on the field and have battle scars and stories to prove it! I try to hit a few runs given the chance too. My team mates may beg to differ!

I love a good party and a social too.
